Aimée Merola

Primarily focusing on the themes of nostalgia, longing and loss, my work is a proposal and exploration into the concept of an 'Unseen Archive'; using my mother's early childhood, living between Malawi and Goa, as a focus point throughout. My Mother as She is Now is a collection of photographs that further fill the gap in recordings of her life - documenting her as I’ve only ever known her to be. The photographs feature in a publication alongside my dissertation, “Language is compliant; but things are resistant”.
